Well, the year is almost over.
I accomplished one of the goals I set for myself at the start of the semester—kind of. My Use of English grades were a bit higher this time.
It was a great year; I love being here and studying this. I didn’t feel that English 4 was too hard. I mean, I failed the phonetics midterm, I know, but I had great grades in the other components, so that has to count for something.
About feedback…I don’t know; I still struggle with it. I had to analyze everything I heard a thousand times to give proper feedback. It was even harder when the people I had to give feedback to were excellent at what they were doing; I didn’t know how to fill the required time! But anyway, it’s done now.
Receiving feedback from Language 6 students was fun. I felt appreciated by their comments and motivated to keep improving. I also received feedback from a Language 2 student who said that I have very good pronunciation. That felt good because I can see my improvement over the years.
I’m nervous about next year, though. I don’t know if I feel ready to go to schools yet, but I’ll have to, haha. I’ll study over the summer to feel more prepared, but well, that’s life.
See ya!

In the last session with Ms. Gleason, we kept exploring how AI can be used in education, especially focusing on tools like ChatGPT, which we’ve been using a lot to help assess student work. It’s been super useful for grading, giving feedback, and coming up with creative ideas for lessons. AI is definitely a time-saver, and it can help improve the quality of what we do as teachers.
We also talked about some important stuff like copyright and plagiarism. Ms. Gleason reminded us that while AI is awesome, we still have to use it responsibly, especially when using other people’s materials. It’s something we need to keep in mind, and it’s important to teach our students to do the same.
During the activity, teacher James asked us to share the link to a previous AI project we worked on. In my group, we used different AI tools to make our activity more engaging and interactive, which was a fun way to see how technology can improve our work. Overall, the session really highlighted how important it is for us, as future teachers, to keep up with AI and make sure we’re using it in smart, responsible ways.
Reflecting on the sessions, I feel like I’ve gained a lot, especially when it comes to understanding how AI can play such a big role in education. Despite the classes being online, I found it easy to stay engaged, thanks to how clear and approachable Jesse was. One of the main things that stood out to me was learning about the SAMR model, which I think is going to be really helpful for how I approach using technology in the classroom.
I’ve also realized that staying updated on new tech isn’t just important, but necessary if I want to keep my future students interested and engaged. The idea of constantly evolving as a teacher really stuck with me, and it’s made me even more motivated to seek out opportunities that will help me grow professionally. Overall, these sessions have inspired me to stay curious and proactive in my learning, and I’m excited to see how these new tools will shape my teaching methods.
